Alibaba project was born on this nice February day, after good Egu’s food and couple of beers. Lyma * was in a very good mood, as also Egu and Baba, which all can be seen from the entering video of the heppening. This was first in the series of video reccordings by Baba’s digital photo camera (Kodak…6,1 m. pix.) that where done that first day. This kind of video will be used throughout the project for a video montages. After listening some old sevdah, we just started to record something. First was Baba ond tarabuka and voice. This was totaly improvised and words “Alibaba” came spontanousely. After that Lyma star overrecorded his jembe and a basic groove again on Yamaha drumm machine with electronic pads. After this Baba recorded chinese ar hu (chinese violine). Egu recorded this Baba’s playing and Baba recorded previos Lyma’s playing. Soon Egu Boyop started to experiment with some improvised lights and than we used african mask that Oromowo brought from Senegal alike a present for Institute. Baba made improvisation with the mask and Egu recorded the video. First Baba was singing the groove alone, and after all track was put on, so the bacground sound on video was quite live one. With this, we finished the first day of the project.

Following an old custom Papa went to Sauka for his wikawaka (it’s now a good enough time that Papa’s wikawaka is in fact pasasuwaka). But this pasasuwaka was very special becaus of Djennah Djenne’s “Cista desetka”. It was very good and powerfull, so singing started and new project was born: “Cista desetka” (Pure 10). Specialy active with singing were Lyma * and Baba Ewe. Whole constelation was: Baba Ewe, Lyma *, Djennah Djenne, Egu Boyop and Gepanth Ir. Good fire was made on the second fireplace, and powerfool food prepared. Stories started to be told. With a sun coming down and darkness bringing cold, we stood in Sasuka one hour more in the darknes, stearing in the life brinnging fire. After ritualy shuting the fire and improoving our presence, we left. Project “Cista Desetka” is to be continued.
